Working with Rossetti Associates/ Architects we are responsible for the development of the public open space for this 150 million-dollar/42 acre complex, which will accommodate crowds of 20-35 thousand during the two week U.S. Open event. The facility is being designed to create a park-like setting, open to the public for the remaining 50 weeks of the year. The facility includes three major arenas, along with new site facilities including 15 tournament-class field courts, 20 practice courts, a food court, concession areas, and a grand plaza as the forecourt for Stadium #1. This new USTA will serve as one of the anchors for tennis' grand slam event with similar facilities in Australia, England, and France. The design takes advantage of the existing Beaux-Arts layout of Flushing Meadow Park and capitalizes upon axial arrangements created for the 1964 World's Fair. This $150 million facility is the center of the tennis world in the United States.
